It is quite wondrous to see what pressure does on people. It is also rather frightening to see how pressure reveals a person's true nature. Arrogance, ignorance, sometimes, even being oblivious towards their own surroundings and the people around them.
The Joker did mentioned about this perception in the movie "The Dark Knight". I find it rather interesting and it also has its truth content. Putting a person under pressure, make that person feel suppressed and choke him/her from his options. This would force the victim to act under his own survival instincts; to save himself/herself, regardless of anyone else's lives.
Touching on our moving to the new hostel, some of the AJ scholars weren't happy about moving to a place which is rather isolated although facilities-wise, it's alright. Some even tried to find implausible reasons to ensure that they are able to stay put in Oldham Hall. Worse yet, some coined the idea of having other schools to move in place of them.
Ironically, they were the same people who strongly advocated that AJ and NY should never be separated, "Friends Forever!" was their favourite phrase.
How amusing.
Your invented friendship, cast away into the dark void simply because you desired to stick at OH. I'm terribly sorry, but I do not accept such insincere relationships.
Apparently, even criminals do have a sound mind, a mind of a philosopher perhaps. We do show our true nature when under pressure, to save the very skin on our backs.
