I suddenly remembered about the movie that I watched with my friend not long before school reopens. “Yes Man”, starring Jim Carrey was indeed a hilarious one, depicting what are the rewards that await him whenever he says “yes” to everything, and the worst consequences imaginable if he were to say the other, no-so-pleasing, one syllable word; “no”.
However, it is quite interesting to find out what happens if you actually said “yes” to every request, to every opportunity given and to every chance appearing in front of your very eyes?
This brought me back to the Law of Attraction that Mark showed me last year. Does this two theories ever link together? Ok ok, for those who do not understand what the Law of Attraction is (shall cut it to LoA), it can be said that as long as you imagine what you want to achieve, you will achieve it. Similar to what Clement W. Stone once said, “anything that you conceive, it can achieve.” Simply put, if you put your mind to it hard enough, you will definitely get it.
So does this mean that if you keep muttering to yourself “yes you can”, will you eventually succeed? There are many perceptive to this question.
Firstly, I do not see the utter importance of saying “yes” to every request if the ability could not emulate the desire of the heart. For example, a mosquito is trying to stop an incoming lorry. Will it stop the lorry if, given it has a mind of its own, persuading itself that it could stop the lorry, and succeeded in achieving it?
Saying “yes” all the time and being not able to keep that promise will merely lead to more empty promises being made. In other words, words are not treasured well within a person’s mouth. Despair and disappointment would follow and relationships may be severely harmed.
However, saying the word “yes” does have its rewards, as portrayed in the movie “Yes Man”. From seizing the opportunity to gain promotion to learning things that may not represent you could actually enrich our lives, thus it may make us a better person. Saying “yes” is also a way to brush off the habit of being lazy or evasive towards jobs, but not many are able to say this word. Even telling others “Yes, you can”, motivates the listener to strive further and move on in whatever they are doing. Perhaps, it could be the 2nd most motivating 3-word sentence after “I love you”.
My personal verdict? Do not simply say “yes” to everything in front of your very eyes. It could lead to very tragic mishaps. However, why not risk yourself in things that you do not know what the outcome is? I may be a very cautious person, fearing my wrong move could change my path forever, but without it, how do we enjoy life?
Do not say “no” all the time too. There are also things that you should do, chances that you should grasp, and not forgetting rewards waiting for your acceptance.
So, is it a yes? Or a no?

Does saying “yes” to everything solve everything?
