Today I went to the hospital early in the morning for a blood test...
Nothing out of the ordinary...
Except for what I saw outside the clinic...
There was a line of people waiting for the clinic to open...(Yeah...it was not even 8 yet....so naturally the clinic is still closed...) Mostly were of the elderly people...Some of them forming a line already just at the clinic entrance...
I simply stood at one side listening to some songs from my phone...More people came...And they lined up behind me...Thinking I was part of the line...(ok...perhaps this is what they called courtesy)
Then...An Indian couple came...The wife was pushing her husband on the wheelchair..motioning themselves to the back of the line which was in front of the entrance...
Immediately...The people who were behind me rushed towards that line to line up..As if they were that they would lose out in some race...One of them actually knocked me without uttering "sorry"
Singaporeans...Is this what you meant about being courteous and caring? Obviously...The Indian on the wheelchair needs more attention than everyone else put together on that morning...And you guys could just turn a blind eye on him?
Worse still...When the doors opened..The so called "well-mannered" people rushed in leaving the Indian couple eating their dust...
I was angry with them..But the couple merely returned me a meek smile and said..Things just never change...
Kiasuism...A culture I doubt that Singaporeans will be able to shake off..Even the elderly still practices it...Albeit that they're moving like tortoises....
They even complained to the staff nurse asking why I get to go for my blood test first even if I was the last in the line...
Well...There's something called good deed deserves another good deed...
Actually...Mine's a private case...That's why I get to pay for my blood test rightaway instead of waiting for my number to be called...:P
Kiasuism...It won't get you anywhere...It only makes you more materialistic...And more cold in the heart...
What's the use of scrambling for material gains when you won't donate a cent to the Myanmar cyclone victims?
You don't even deserve such gains..That's why you're afraid to lose...You're afraid to lose things that you haven't own yet...
This is even seen among the younger generation...Sadly to say..
Hypocrites also fits into their names...
They could whine in front of teachers saying about not having enough time..
But yet the same group of people can be seen frequently at J8...AMKhub..Even Taka...
Lectures are often wasted on them too...Once they stepped into the lecture hall....Apparently they love to scan the area for bombs before selectively pick a seat...Minding their own business..
10-15 minutes wasted on this meaningless act...
Let's take Chemistry lectures for example...
Total chem lectures in Term 3: 20
Extra lectures given: 3
Expected time gained: 23*60= 1380 minutes
Scanning for bombs 12.5(average)*23= 287.5
Tutors silencing students: 10*23= 230
Students made tutors angry= 5*23=115
Time for lectures left= 1380-287.5-230-115=747.5minutes..
Not all lectures have been conducted due to holidays...747.5-180=567.5 minutes...
That's not even half of our actual allocated time...
Even the lectures missed are actually compensated with the additional lectures...
Yet...They still point the finger to the tutors...
Econs lectures are also another thing to laugh about...
Every word on the LCD screen would be copied blindly by them...
Laughable...
Considering that the lecture notes also provide the same content...
Why is this happening?
Because they are afraid to lose out...
Lose out to their own fears...
Saddening...
